Bethany & Luc got married in their beautiful home in Carp this Fall surrounded by their nearest and dearest, in a wedding they pulled together in just two weeks. It was a crisp fall day, and all the floral arrangements incorporated fresh reeds picked from where they grew surrounding their house. They spilled out from the pots set up in the ceremony spot, perfectly framing a giant brush-lettered canvas that created the most beautiful backdrop where Bethany and Luc would exchange their vows. There was white pumpkins, bales of hay for the guests and candles set up to light the walkway. Parked to the right of the house was the infamous Cellar 82 Airstream, with string lights strung towards the house, creating a seamless outdoor space that looked as if it was always there. Being a talented photographer in Ottawa herself, Bethany’s experience meant that not a single detail was overlooked, down to Lucs band with the copper finish interior. Her bouquet was an abundant, overflowing beautiful tangle of soft cotton, reeds, roses and greens finished together with navy ribbon to coordinate with the bridesmaids dresses. I was greeted with such warmth by everyone in the family, and all the lovely people that came to share in Bethany and Luc’s wedding day. The tinge of nerves of shooting another photographer’s wedding day melted away as soon as I arrived, and how could it not when I was in such great company? Just before the first look, there were gifts exchanged to bridesmaids and groomsmen – and I had way too much fun styling details from the box of them that Bethany had prepared for me. One of my favourite design elements of this day has to be the cotton plant, I mean, how cool is that?! I absolutely adore Luc’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time in her stunning gown, it is always exciting and emotional to witness this moment. I was really blown away with the care that was put into making this day come together with such elegance. In the end, Bethany and Luc tied the knot on their own front porch and said their sweet vows with the warm glow of candles as their close friends and families gathered to witness. After they were officially pronounced husband and wife, they danced their way to the reception space and after some heart-felt speeches, they shared their first dance as husband and wife. It is hard to believe that this came together in such a short time (as noted in nearly every speech that night!), but you will have to see it for yourself.
