I always like to start off by telling the story of how I met my clients, but this one is special and requires a back story so bear with me… For a large part of my adult life, I dreamed of going to the West Coast. I can pinpoint the exact moment I became adamant about visiting Victoria BC one day and the exact photo I saw on Facebook the day I decided I wanted to see Vancouver. As the years went by, more west coast cities were added to my list. I just finished watching Grey’s Anatomy (seriously though, what was with the last two seasons Shonda?) and I had to see Seattle. This year, things finally clicked and my husband and I got to plan our five-year wedding anniversary trip to the #westcoastbestcoast. On the list, Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle and Portland! Yeah! I still get excited to think about the places I visited.
When I first found out I was pregnant, I turned to Dr.Google to help me understand it. I kept being told to join a baby group – whatever that was – so I gave it a go. It turned out to be one of the best things I did, because I found a community of women from all across Canada who were at the same exact stage as me. Two years later, our group is stronger than ever and we check up on one another often. One of those fellow mommies, is Brittany. I remember seeing her cute bump photos on instagram and thinking how freaking great she looked. She quickly became one of my favourite people ever, because I enjoyed her sarcastic sense of humour immensely, and that hasn’t changed. The original group was for our 2015 babies, and Brittany was the first to announce her 2016 pregnancy to us. When she found out I was going to be visiting Victoria she instantly booked me for her maternity photos – and that is pretty much the highest compliment anyone can give a photographer! I was so, so happy to be able to shoot with her and John, to document her pregnancy with her newest little miracle, and finally meet her, of course!
The first set of photos was taken at Willows Beach, which is close to where Brittany grew up, and I thought that was perfectly poetic. We braved the cold shore for a few different photos, and she trusted me wholly to do what I do. The next day we were able to get a few with her husband John at another iconic Victoria location, Beacon Hill Park. I had heard so much about him, and it was amazing to see them together – if you know me, couples in love is one of those things that make me go all heart-eyed!

Victoria absolutely WON my heart, I would love to go back. If you’re planning your wedding there, get in touch, I would love to speak with you.

Emma! These are absolutely incredible. Brittany is gorgeous of course but the backdrop + your skill = absolute magic!
Thank you so much Jess! It was an incredible experience!
