I simply loved shooting this Chapman mills Conservation maternity session in the winter! Faezeh and Hossein are proud first time parents to super adorable baby boy, Matin. As with every set of maternity and newborn images I capture, I feel so privileged to being doing so. Maternity and Newborn photos took on a whole new meaning to me after becoming a mother myself. All first time parents without a doubt follow the same path of research, have the same worries, joys and ambitions about the parents they will be to their little ones.
Being able to identify with my clients is something I believe is essential to creating the best imagery. It goes without saying that I believe in preserving the milestones of life in creative and emotive portraits, but to do that, you have to be comfortable and at ease both with yourself and with your photographer. Creating a bond with my clients means being able to feel what they’re feeling, and that’s why I grew as a lifestyle maternity and newborn photographer after having my daughter Talia. The lifestyle aspect really spoke to me more, and I felt it created a much more truthful portrait especially for the newborn shoot.
This session was super fun to shoot because we ended up with a variety of portraits that we loved! At first the plan was to shoot both indoor and outdoors in one day, but that day had called for a winter rainfall. We did an indoor lifestyle maternity photos at their beautiful home, that was drenched with natural light and modern decor. We can’t share those here, but trust me, they were wonderful! Due to the weather we had to push the outdoor session for another day.
Since we’re both in Barrhaven we decided shoot at a local gem of an area which is the Chapman Mills Conservation area, even in the winter it was a unique and quaint location that was perfect the the maternity photos. Faezeh was definitely super woman when it came to scaling the mounds of snow to get into the location, and she had a ton of support from her husband Hossein. During the shoot I get to witness the relationship dynamics and it always warms my heart to see how supportive and loving my clients are together. We made the most of the season, and it also gave Hossein and Faezeh a reason to dress up and enjoy each others company in the last weeks before becoming parents (!!!!!). Keep scrolling to see their set and read more about the newborn session.
After the maternity session…we wait.
Update: Matin has arrived!
