When I think of engagement, I reflect on the time that I was engaged. It was such an exciting time, everything was new, things were changing – and they were supposed to be changing. Every moment was exhilarating, because really (for myself anyways) it was the first BIG change in my adult life when it came to relationships. It’s a period of planning out your new life together but also that amazing wedding you may have dreamed of!
When I met M & H, I asked them what I ask all my couples, how they met. Without a doubt they looked at each other and smiled shyly before beginning. I love asking this because it brings up that excitement again and I feel so honored to be a part of that moment. We planned the engagement shoot for Nepean point because they both have a love for beautiful and breathtaking scenery, much like that you find at the Champlain monument downtown and at the drop dead gorgeous Le Belvedere (their wedding venue!). We planned for a golden hour engagement session and it could not have been more perfect that day.
Engagement sessions are so important for me to have with my couples because it helps us get used to one another (which is why they are included in my wedding collections). A lot of the time, when planning a wedding it will be the first time a couple is going to invest in custom photography. Take the time to have an engagement session with your photographer, get used to being behind the lens and revel in the memories you will create from this special time in your life. Trust me, you won’t regret it for a second.
