Prepare yourself for this swoon-worthy blossom engagement in Ottawa, it was so perfect, I couldn’t even have planned it this way. Hala & Manny got engaged during the beautiful and elusive blossom season, and hosted an intimate reception to celebrate with friends and family. This year we have had more than our fair share of rainy days, but this was not one of them. It was the an afternoon with sweet, golden sunshine and so much love!
In case you’re wondering, yes, yes this is the engagement. In Arabic culture, it’s normal to host a rather large engagement reception when a couple announces their intention to get married. It is a smaller scale version of the wedding that is to come later on, and they’re so much fun! It’s kind of like a really serious dress rehearsal. The bride to be is usually in a lavish evening gown, the groom to be in a smart suit and they are done up to the nines. Friends and family come to celebrate this announcement and shower them with love. This spring blossom engagement set the perfect tone for their summer wedding, and can we talk about Hala’s dress choice? YES, it was stunning! She was a vision.
In case you need one more reason to love Hala and Manny’s love story, during the reception, Manny had a little surprise for his bride to be. Hala’s father couldn’t be there, as he was overseas, so Manny arranged a video message from Hala’s father to be played during the reception. It was an emotional moment for Hala and her family, because the celebration felt complete. It’s the little things like this, that make me feel so honored to be able to do the job that I do.
Once the tears were done, the party got started, and it was one to remember!
Congratulations on you engagement, Hala and Manny!
