Abbe and Tyler got engaged at the black sand beach while on vacation in Iceland. Tyler set up the go pro and then popped the question and the rest was history. They recently moved to Ottawa, and reached out to me to shoot their engagement session.
They are avid nature lovers, spending their time hiking and doing water activities together. This is why they chose Dow’s lake as it’s one of their favourite places to walk in the city. We had originally planned on doing their session the day before at golden hour, but with the weather we have had this year – we had to postpone if we wanted some nice sunshine.
I proposed we shoot at sunrise the next day, and they came back with a resounding yes! Tyler let me know they were going to ask that but were not sure I would go for it being so early. They were wrong there, because I have been preaching sunrise sessions for a long time! It’s a perfect time to shoot! The sun is just right, there’s less people around to crash your session, and it usually wraps up in time for you to get to your 9 am shift or brunch on the weekends.
We hiked around the Arboretum grounds, there was a golden glow from the sunrise and lots of morning dew. While it started out with some clouds at 6:30 am they quickly parted for the remainder of our session.
