When I first saw a pregnancy reveal on Buzzfeed, I shared on my social media that I’d like to shoot something like it. I got a message from Amy almost right away, but she didn’t tell me right then.
I am so excited to finally share this wonderful session I had the honor to photograph last month! Amy is a fellow photographer, creative and all around boss. I was so honored to be one of the first to hear this special news, and be a part of this creative way to break the news to one of the most important people in her life, her Nana, Elaine.
Amy reached out to me to capture the moment that Elaine would find out she was going to be a Great-Nana and the photos are the cutest thing ever! Amy and Elaine share a very close bond, and she wanted to surprise her with the news of her pregnancy, so we planned this shoot as soon as we could. I asked Elaine to write down her favourite thing about Amy before starting the session, and brace yourselves for this… She wrote down, “Amy is my positive link to life” – how sweet is that!? my heart just melted. Amy wrote what we had planned,”you’re going to be a great nana.” It took a few seconds for Elaine to read the board and register what was happening, but it was pure excitement and joy once she did. I have to say, it was the most special thing to witness.
The reaction is priceless, and the sweetest thing you’ll see all day.
Congratulations Amy & Matt, you will be awesome parents – and Elaine will be the best great-nana!
